AIS is a nonprofit institution founded by Quality Schools International (QSI) in 1993, offers high quality education in the English language for preschool, elementary, and secondary students. The student body represents over 32 different nationalities, including students from the diplomatic community, international business, and the local Kazakhstani community. The school prepares students to attend colleges and universities in North America, Europe, Asia, and other areas around the world. GPA and SAT Scores

The SAT was administered to 196 students in 2018-2019. All scores, including those from non-native English speakers, are included. Almaty International School Mean SAT score*: 1248 World Mean Score: 1117

Due to the nature of our school and the small class sizes, Almaty International School does not rank students. The cumulative GPA on the student’s transcript only reflects courses taken at QSI. Grades from previous schools are not included in the GPA but they are listed on student transcripts.

Advanced Placement Program

Graduation Requirements

The school offers four diplomas:

Academic Diploma with Honors: 24 Carnegie Units (240 QSI Unit Credits)

Requirements are the same as The Academic Diploma with the added condition that accumulated credits include at least two Advanced Placement (AP) courses. A total of 240 credits are required for this diploma.

Capstone Diploma from College Board, a student must score three or higher in AP Seminar (Sec. III) and in AP Research (Sec. IV), as well as in four additional AP exams of their choosing while in Secondary.

Science: Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Envrironmental Studies, AP Envr. Science, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, and AP Physics.

Cultural Studies: World Geography, World History, AP World History, U.S. History, AP U.S. History, World Governments, Economics, AP Economics, and AP Comparative Gov’t.

Health and Physical Education: Wellness and Physical Education.

Languages: French, AP French, Spanish AP, Spanish, Russian, and Kazakh.

Fine Arts: Art, Choir, Drama, Instrumental Band, Orchestra, AP Music Theory, and AP Studio Art.

Extracurricular: Badminton, Basketball, Chess Club, Cross Country, Debate, Math Counts, Model United Nations, National Honor Society, Soccer, Speech, Student Council, Swimming, Table Tennis, Track and Field, Tri-M, Volleyball, and Yearbook Club.
